Day 28

We got to do something extra special today! Auntie took us to the Botero Museum! Fernando Botero is a famous Colombian painter. He is known for his paintings of fat people - he calls it large proportions. Check him out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Botero. Part of the Museum included a coin collection consisting of a the different Colombian coins/bills through the years.

After we got home, R worked on her classwork and N&J and Auntie headed out for a walk to the Veterinarian area of Bogotá. It was a beautiful afternoon out.

When Uncle got home from work we headed out to get pizza and then to the barbershop for a haircut and manicures.

Day 27

This morning Uncle ran in a half marathon so we cheered him on at the half way point and at the finish line. There were a TON of people running! Rain began to pour down just as we got a taxi to take us back to the apartment. In the afternoon we hung around home, made pretzels and watched a movie while Uncle rested.

Day 26

Happy Sabbath! Today we went to Ilarco church and got to see a baptism! After church we came home and ate these awesome vegetable fajitas that Auntie had made. We spent the afternoon relaxing and talking. In the evening Auntie and Uncle went out and left NRJ at home. They ate, cleaned the kitchen, and watched a movie.

Day 25 - Friday

Today we headed out downtown to do the window shopping that we had planned to do yesterday. There were a ton of shops! We walked through a store that consisted completely of fake plants! We walked through jewelry stores, clothing stores, and a bunch of art stores. We saw the cutest wood bedroom decorations, perfect for Junior haha ;)

Sorry there are only 2 pictures today -- I think we are getting a little lax at taking pictures...

Day 24

Today it rained. Which wouldn't really matter except we had planned to go out walking downtown. Oh well... :)

Day 23

Nothing major happened today, but this evening we took a walk downtown to the Rock Garden Pub where Embassy employees gathered for a trivia game night. We ate french fries, onion rings, drank lemonade and tonic water and answered random trivia questions. There were 10 rounds with 10 questions each. The questions consisted of things like "who is the famous painter from Colombia," "what was the original name of the Mona Lisa painting," "what country has one solid color for their flag," and "what is Hannah Montana's real name?" We came in third place, thus ensuring that we didn't win anything but it was still lots of fun :)
Until tomorrow!

Day 21 and Day 22

Not a whole lot occurred yesterday and today. R did a lot of studying and Auntie and Uncle took a couple of trips to the doctors office to find out why Uncle was still in so much pain after his wisdom teeth were removed. N&J spent their days reading and messing around in the kitchen. Till tomorrow! :)

Day 20 - Sunday

We got up early this morning and headed out the door to get to a guided tour of downtown Bogota. On our way we came across another Catholic parade. We are beginning to think that this must be a Sunday tradition...
After standing around and barely being able to hear the guide (there must have been over 100 people there), who was speaking in Spanish, Uncle and Auntie decided to leave the tour and explore town a little by ourselves. We stopped at Plaza Simon Bolivar and fed the pigeons. J even caught one that was being a little too inquisitive. We then headed down to the artisian market before heading home. In the evening, N&J and Auntie and Uncle headed down to the street corner to watch a work crew move a huge tree so it could be replanted. Apparently the owners of the property decided the tree would look better a couple of feet west of where it was originally planted.
